SOC Team Leadership & Building
A Security Operations Center is only as good as the thinking behind it. Plenty of organizations have a SIEM, a pile of alerts, and an analyst or two — but no real strategy for what they're detecting, why, or what happens when something fires.
I help organizations build SOCs that work, and lead the ones that already exist but need direction. This comes from real experience running security operations day to day — not a maturity-model slide deck.
What this looks like in practice:
SOC maturity assessment — an honest look at your current detection coverage, tooling, processes, and team, measured against how attackers actually operate
Detection engineering — writing and tuning detections mapped to MITRE ATT&CK, focused on your actual risk profile instead of generic vendor content
Playbooks and runbooks — clear, usable response procedures your analysts can follow under pressure, not documents that live in a wiki no one opens
Tooling guidance — help evaluating or getting more value out of your SIEM/XDR stack, without a vendor sales pitch driving the decision
Analyst mentoring and hiring support — building a team that grows into the work, not just fills seats
Interim or fractional SOC leadership — hands-on management of your security operations function while you scale or search for a permanent hire
How to engage: This can be a focused project — a maturity assessment and roadmap, or a detection engineering sprint — or an ongoing relationship where I act as your SOC lead on a part-time basis. Most clients start with an assessment, so we both know exactly what we're working with before committing to anything bigger.
